Bi weekly pay period - Minimum 80 scheduled hours
Cost of Living Adjustments - Labor Contract Expires January 2015 (1.5% January 2011, 2% July 2011, 2% January 2012, 2% July 2012, 1% January 2013, 2% July 2013, 2% January 2014, 2% July 2014, 2.25% January 2015)
Work Schedule - Rotating 3 / 5 day work week with a weekend off every pay period
Holidays - 8 paid Holidays & 3 paid Personal days (Plus Christmas Eve if Christmas is on a Saturday)
Annual Vacation - 1 - 5 years; 80 hours of paid vacation time: 6-15 years; 120 hours paid vacation time: 15+ years: 160 hours paid vacation time
Insurance - The City of Norwalk pays 95% of the health insurance premium for single or family medical coverage, optional orthodontia coverage and a fully paid $20,000 life insurance coverage on each employee
Retirement - The City of Norwalk participates in the Iowa Public Employees Retirement System (IPERS), police officers are a protected class under the system, currently the police officer contributes 6.64% and the City matches at 9.95%, as of July 1, 2011, employee contribution will be 6.65% and the City 9.97% contribution. info@ipers.org
Training - The Police Department has an aggressive in-service training program, field training program for new recruits and qualifies it's own certified instructors for specific areas.
Work Setting - New Building, New Vehicles and New Equipment
Clothing Allowance - $750 annually for uniform replacement
